Introduction and Overview

Thank you for choosing In Goode Company! We are North Carolina's only Supplemental Education Service Provider whose program model is based on English Language Development Standards. We offer a tutoring program geared for students who speak English as a Second Language and who struggle with reading. We realize these students have specific needs regarding phonemic awareness, reading comprehension, vocabulary and other language skills. Our program gives students 36 hours of instruction with a highly qulaified tutor trained by our company. We also offer low student: tutor ratios, at least one tutor for every five students or less. Throughout the program, students will strengthen their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in English.
Students will also learn about math, science and social studies throughout the program. Students who struggle with language and reading fundamentals need a targeted and individualized approach to learning content in these subject areas. In Goode Company hires tutors who are experienced in working with students who struggle with academic English and, most importantly, care about their students as a whole person.
Fiction and non-fiction texts, similar to those on the North Carolina End of Grade Tests, will be used as a basis for the program. Students will also be able to explore their own experiences and culture to make learning fun and relevant.

Thanks to our Community Partners!

Our tutoring services are free to students who attend eligible Title I schools and receive Supplemental Education Service (SES) funding. However, many of our students and their parents are unaware of the services available to them. Therefore, our partners in the community are a vital integration to our company. Special thanks to our communty partners Lutheran Resurrection Church, the Montagnad-Dega Association, Catholic Social Services - Refugee Resettlement Impact Program, HIAS - Hebrew International, the Asian Chamber Board and Central Avenue Bilingual Preschool. Thanks so much for partnering with us to teach parents about their choices in education!

What a year!

In Goode Company is just days away from completing it's first year of tutoring as North Carolina's only English as a Second Language (ESL) based Supplemental Education Service (SES) Provider! We have worked with 65 children throughout Charlotte, Gastonia and Statesville. Our students come from various countries including Vietnam, Honduras, Somalia, Mexico, Russia, Loas and Liberia. I have enjoyed coordinating the program and look forward to growing in the future!
Next year, we plan to tutor students in grades K-8 in reading and math. We are also designing workshops for teachers and businesses ranging in topic from "Building Relationships" to "Two Steps Forward, Three Steps Back: Dancing Around the Retention Shuffle". If you know of a school or business which would like us to present a workshop, please contact In Goode Company. There will be a list of all workshops and a short description on our website. Video versions of the workshops along with an online discussion forum will also soon be available.
